About This Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how StoryAhead collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use our website and services. StoryAhead helps parents and caregivers create personalized visual social narratives that prepare children for everyday situations.

StoryAhead is intended to be managed by an adult. Children do not create or manage StoryAhead accounts.

Information We Collect

Account and Support Information

We may collect your email address, display name, authentication details, account preferences, and information you send to customer support. If you use a third-party sign-in provider, we receive the account information that provider makes available to us.

Child Profiles

To personalize a story, you may provide a child's nickname, age range, interests, reading preferences, sensory preferences, character description, visual style, or an optional reference image. StoryAhead does not require a child's legal name, exact date of birth, school, home address, diagnosis, medical record, or therapy record.

Please provide only information you are authorized to use and that is reasonably necessary to create the story.

Story and Creative Content

We process the situations, answers, instructions, story text, character details, images, layout settings, edits, and other content you submit or generate. This information is used to create, edit, store, display, share, and export your stories.

Billing and Credits

When you purchase a subscription or credits, our payment processor handles your payment credentials. StoryAhead receives transaction details such as your plan, payment status, billing period, amount, and related identifiers. We do not store full payment-card numbers.

Usage, Device, and Diagnostic Data

We may collect information such as pages and features used, generation status, credit activity, browser and device type, IP address, approximate location derived from IP, timestamps, referral information, and error or performance logs. We use this information to operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the service.

Cookies and Similar Technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies where needed for sign-in, session security, preferences, payments, and basic service analytics. Browser settings may let you limit optional cookies, but essential cookies are required for some features.

How We Use Information

We use information to:

provide and personalize StoryAhead;
generate and edit story text, character references, illustrations, layouts, and exports;
maintain accounts, subscriptions, credits, and transaction records;
provide support and communicate service-related information;
detect abuse, protect accounts, and maintain service reliability;
understand product usage and improve features; and
comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.

We do not sell personal information. We do not use child profile information or raw private story content for advertising.

AI Processing and Service Providers

StoryAhead relies on service providers for functions such as authentication, cloud hosting and storage, text generation, image generation, payment processing, email delivery, and diagnostics. The information needed to perform a request may be sent to those providers. For example, story context and character references may be processed by AI providers to generate text or images.

These providers process information under their own terms and privacy commitments. Avoid submitting sensitive information that is not necessary for the story.

Stories are private to your account unless you choose to share or export them. A share link allows anyone with the link to view the public version of that story. Do not share a link publicly if the story contains information you do not want others to see. You can manage sharing from StoryAhead, but copies already downloaded or saved by another person may remain outside our control.

PDFs and image exports are saved to the device or service you choose and are then subject to that destination's privacy and security practices.

Children's Privacy

StoryAhead is designed for parents, guardians, and caregivers to create stories for children, not for children to register independently. The adult account holder is responsible for having the authority to provide a child's information and reference images. If you believe a child has submitted personal information without appropriate adult authorization, contact us so we can review and, where appropriate, delete it.

Retention and Deletion

We retain information while your account is active and as reasonably necessary to provide the service, maintain security and transaction records, resolve disputes, and meet legal obligations. Retention periods can differ by data type and service provider.

You may delete child profiles, stories, or other supported content through the available product controls. You may also contact us about account or data deletion. Some information may remain temporarily in backups or be retained where required for fraud prevention, accounting, legal compliance, or dispute resolution.

Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. No internet transmission or storage system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for protecting your account credentials and controlling access to your share links and exported files.

Your Choices and Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a copy of certain personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing. You can update some information within StoryAhead or contact us to make a request. We may need to verify your identity before completing it.
